For the 5 Days Volcanoes primates and Dian Fossey hike, you will head fir a visit to Volcanoes National Park where you will conduct the primates and Dian Fossey hike. You will start with a visit to Musanze caves and you will have a tour around for about 2 hours. You will have conduct a gorilla trek and golden monkey trek at volcanoes national park. You will also visit the twin lakes of burera and ruhondo and hike to Dian Fossey Tomb. You will conclude with a tour to Iby’iwacu cultural center and you then depart to Kigali airport.

Detailed itinerary of the trip
Day 1 : Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On day 1, a guide from Kapo Tours will transfer you from Kigali airport and you head to Musanze caves for a visit. You will explore these caves for about 2 hours and after the tours where you will get to see numerous historical items and the bats that reside there, you will be transferred to a hotel in musanze and you have lunch.
After the lunch meal at the hotel in musanze, the guide will transfer you to volcanoes national park which is approximately 2 hours away from Kigali. You will check in to a lodge when you arrive and then you will be availed with dinner and you retire to bed.

Day 2 : Gorilla trekking
On day 2, you will have an early morning breakfast and you will be transferred for briefing at the park headquarters. You will go for the trek with the guide that will be allocated to you. You will spend one hour with the gorillas and you will also get the opportunity to see others animals and birds during your search for the gorillas. You will be taking the photos of the gorillas as you interact with the guide to get information about them. As you are taking pictures, the phone torch and sound must be off to avoid any sort of disturbances. A guide will transfer you back to the lodge and you have lunch.
The rest of the day after the gorilla trek and lunch will be spent at the lodge and in the evening you will have dinner and retire to bed.
Day 3 : Golden monkey trekking and touring the twin lakes of burera and ruhondo
On day 3, you will have an early morning breakfast and connect to the park headquarters for briefing. You will then head with a guide for a golden monkey trek. You will search for the golden monkeys following the broken tree branches that fall in the trails as the golden monkeys swing on the trees. Once you spot the golden monkeys, you will stay with them for 1 hour and you get the information you need about the golden monkeys from the guide and you will also get to see how they connect with each other. You will be able to see them feed, play and interact with each other. The guide will transfer you back to the lodge and you have lunch.
In the after having some rest, you will be briefed and the guide will take you for a tour at the twin lakes of burera and ruhondo. You will get the see the amazing and beautiful views around these twin lakes and the bird species at this lake. The guide who will accompany you will give you details about the attractions that you will set eyes on while at the twin lakes of burera and ruhondo. The guide will after visiting the twin lakes of burera and ruhondo take you back to the lodge and you have some rest and later you will be served dinner. You will then retire to bed.
Day 4 : Hike to Dian Fossey Tomb
On day of the safari, you will have breakfast at the lodge and you will head to the headquarters of the park and you head for a hike to Dian Fossey Tomb. You will hike with s hiking stick and a ranger guide will lead you through the trails. You will see the various wildlife types as you hike to Dian Fossey Tomb and the beautiful surroundings. You will see the tomb of Dian Fossey at your arrival and you will also see the grave of digit the beloved primate of Dian Fossey. The guide will give you details about the gorillas and the history of the American primatologist Dian Fossey
After the visit, you will trek back to the headquarters and a guide will transfer you to the lodge for a lunch break. After having your lunch meal, you will relax at the lodge till dinner is served. You will eating head to bed and sleep.
Day 5 : Visit to Iby’iwacu cultural center and depart to Kigali airport
On day 5 of the safari, you will have the breakfast at the lodge and you check out. The guide will transfer you to Iby’iwacu cultural center. You will learn about the culture and traditions of Rwanda and you will get exposed to the way they prepare their local dishes. You will after meet your guide who will take you for lunch at a hotel. After the lunch break, you will proceed with a journey back to Kigali airport.
