The 2 days PVN gorilla trekking safari is a safari to Volcanoes National Park that takes you for gorilla trekking and other activities. This Rwanda safari is ideal for primate lovers. This park is home to approximately 12 habituated gorilla families, making it a perfect place in Rwanda for gorilla trekking and habituation. It takes approximately 2 hours from Kigali to get to Volcanoes National Park in northwestern Rwanda.

Detailed Itinerary 

Day 1: Pick up from a hotel in Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

You will be met and greeted by a representative guide from Chopper Tour and Travel, who will inform you about the safari details. You will then have a tour of the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Kigali, where you will get details about the events of the 1994 Rwanda genocide. You will also have views of the remains of the people who were part of the genocide that are kept at the Rwanda Genocide Memorial. You will then head for lunch at a hotel in Kigali.

After lunch, you will embark on the journey to Volcanoes National Park with a stopover at Musanze Caves, where you will see several bats hanging upside down in the caves and other attractions. You have a brief interaction with the guides who will give you the details about the history attached to these caves. You will then head to Volcanoes National Park and check into a lodge upon arrival. You will have dinner at the lodge, and you will retire to bed.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and transfer back to a hotel in Kigali

You will be served an early morning breakfast at the lodge in Volcanoes National Park. The guide will take you for a briefing about the gorilla trek at the park headquarters. You will go for the briefing with your packed lunch. You will meet the park wardens at the park headquarters, and they will tell you about what you need for the gorilla trek. You will be given a ranger guide to accompany you to the gorilla trek. You will spend 30 minutes to 7 hours finding the gorillas, and then you will be given 1 hour to spend with the Rwanda gorillas. You will observe them as they breastfeed, play, feed and do much more. You will then capture pictures and return to the lodge. You will check out, and then the guide will drive you back to Kigali. You will have a visit to the Kimironko market, and you get to see several commodities sold at this local market. You will buy souvenirs at this market, and then the guide will drop you off at a hotel in Kigali.
