Detailed itinerary for the 1 day Volcanoes gorilla trekking express
Your day begins early with a pickup from a hotel in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. The drive to Volcanoes National Park takes around 2 to 3 hours. Your guide will offer some fascinating insights into the country’s history, culture and wildlife as you get closer to the park. Once you arrive at the park headquarters in Kinigi, you will have a quick briefing on what to expect during your trek. Your guide will go through the rules for trekking, ensuring the safety and well-being of both you and the gorillas. You will be assigned to one of the park’s habituated gorilla families, and then you set off with an armed ranger guide.
You will head to the forest with the guide while on your Rwanda safari, and the time you will spend searching for the gorillas depends on the location of the gorillas. You may take about 30 minutes to 7 hours to spot them. You will be allowed one hour to stay with the gorillas in their natural habitat. You will take pictures of them as they feed, play and do much more.
After the one hour with the gorillas, you head back to the park headquarters. Once you arrive at the entrance, you’ll receive a certificate to commemorate your trek. Your driver will be waiting to take you back to Kigali, and the journey back will take about 2 to 3 hours. You will be dropped off at Kigali Airport, marking the end of the safari.
