Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Early in the morning, you will be picked up from Kigali by a Chopper Tour and Travel company representative. After a short safari briefing, you depart northwards to Musanze, home of Volcanoes National Park. The drive takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours about 105 km.
Upon arrival in Musanze, you check in at a lodge and enjoy lunch with views of the mist-covered volcanoes. You will spend the afternoon at leisure and in the evening have dinner before you retire to bed.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience and Visit to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village
After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for registration and briefing. You will be assigned to one of the habituated gorilla families based on fitness level and group size. You will acquire walking sticks and then be accompanied by experienced ranger guides to the dense rainforest.
The trek can take from about 1 to 7 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements and location. After spotting the gorillas, you will only be allowed to spend one hour with them as you watch them feed, play, groom and do much more. You will capture pictures of the gorillas. After the Rwanda gorilla trekking experience, you will leave the forest and head back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
In the afternoon, you will visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, a community-based cultural initiative that showcases Rwanda’s traditional way of life. Here, you are welcomed with energetic drumming and traditional dance performances. You will learn about ancient hunting techniques, visit a traditional healer, participate in banana beer preparation, explore a replica of a traditional king’s palace, listen to storytelling about Rwanda’s pre-colonial history and much more. After the wonderful cultural experience, you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trek and Return to Kigali
After breakfast, you will have a golden monkey trek within Volcanoes National Park. You will first head to the park headquarters for a briefing on the guidelines to follow while golden monkey trekking. You will be given an armed ranger guide to escort you, and then you will set off. You will take about 2 to 4 hours searching for the playful golden monkeys, and once you spot them, you will spend one hour with them.
The guide will then transfer you back to the lodge for relaxing and lunch. After lunch, you will exit the lodge. The guide will then drive you back to Kigali, dropping you off at a hotel.
