Day 1 : Pick up from a hotel in Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National park
On day 1 of the 2 days Mount Karisimbi hike, a guide will meet you at a hotel in Kigali and you will interact and he gives you details about how you are supposed to conduct the 2 days Mount Karisimbi hike and then he will transfer you to Volcanoes National Park at 5am which will take you about 2 hours to get to the park. You will reach the park headquarters and head to the lodge that you will stay in for night and you refresh yourself before you return back to the park headquarters for briefing just before you start your hike to Mount Karisimbi.
You will prepare yourself in hiking boots and hiking sticks with be given to you at the park headquarters. You will then embark on the hike with the ranger guide where you will come across a number of wildlife species and plant species and various sceneries. You will stop at the camp site where you will rest and spend your night and that will be about 3700m of Mount Karisimbi and it takes approximately six hours to get to the camp base. You will eat your dinner that you packed at the lodge and afterwards you will retire to bed.
Day 2 : Hike to the summit, return to the park headquarters and transfer to Kigali airport.
On day 2 of the 2 days Mount Karisimbi hike, you will wake up and have breakfast at 8am and a guide will brief you before you proceed with the hike to the summit of Mount Karisimbi and you start off from where you stopped the previous day. You will hike through the trails in the thick vegetation to the summit as you view the ecosystems around Mount Karisimbi and the diverse wildlife population around this place. You will also have the chance to see the mountains close to Karisimbi and these include Mount bisoke and Mount Muhabura.
When you reach the summit, you will descend back to the park headquarters where you will have lunch and check out of lodge before the guide transfers you to Kigali for a city tour. You will visit Kimironko market before you depart to the airport. At Kimironko market, you will buy some souvenirs and other items like clothes, beads, earrings, handbags, things made out of clay like pots and you will also interact with the individuals in the market and they tell you more about the Rwandese culture.
