3 Days Mount Bisoke and Mount Karisimbi Hike : Volcanoes National Park is situated in the Northwestern region of Rwanda and it is approximately 2 hours away from the capital of Rwanda, Kigali. It is famous fir harboring a big population of the mountain gorillas and it also has other primates for example the golden monkeys. On the 3 days Mount bisoke and Mount Karisimbi hike, you will be picked by a guide at the hotel where you spent the night and you will set off to Volcanoes National Park. You will begin with briefing at the Park headquarters and they will give you a guide and you start your hike to Mount Karisimbi where you will camp for a night when you have reached about 3700m. Detailed itinerary
Day 1 : Pick up from a hotel in Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park for a hike to Mount Karisimbi
On day 1 of the 3 days Mount bisoke and Mount Karisimbi hike, you will have breakfast at the lodge in Kigali and the guide will meet you there and you exchange greetings. You will check out of the lodge and the guide will tell you at about details on how you are supposed to conduct the 3 days Mount bisoke and Mount Karisimbi hike and then he will transfer you to Volcanoes National Park at 5am which will take you about 2 hours to get to the park. You will reach the park headquarters for briefing just before you start your hike to Mount Karisimbi. You are required to have good hiking boots and hiking sticks with be given to you at the park headquarters. You will then embark on the hike to Mount Karisimbi with the ranger guide and you will come across a numerous wildlife species and plant species and various sceneries. To get to the base camp, it will take approximately 6 hours to get there. You will eat your dinner that you packed at the lodge, have some conversation with the guides and exchange stories and after you will retire to bed.
Day 2 : Reaching the summit of mountain Karisimbi and descend back to starting point
On day 2 of the 3 days Mount bisoke and Mount Karisimbi hike, you will wake up and have breakfast at 8am and the park guides will brief you before you start the hike to the summit of Mount Karisimbi and you start off from where you stopped the previous day. You will hike through the trails in the thick vegetation to the summit as you view the ecosystems around Mount Karisimbi and the diverse wildlife population around this place. You will also have the chance to see the mountains close to Karisimbi and these include Mount Muhabura and among others. When you reach the summit, you will descend back to the park headquarters where you will check into a lodge, have lunch and after rest at the lodge for the rest of the day. You will then be served later dinner and you retire to bed.

Day 3 : Hike to Mount Bisoke and transfer to Kigali airport.
On day 3 of the 3 days Mount bisoke and Mount Karisimbi hike, you will be picked by a guide from the lodge after breakfast and you head for briefing. In this briefing, you will be told the do’s and don’ts when carrying out a hike to Mount Bisoke. A ranger guide will then proceed with you to the hike and he will guide you through the trails. It will take you 4 hours to ascend to the summit of mount bisoke and the return to the starting point will take 2 hours. This hike takes approximately 6 hours and once you get to the summit, you will be able to see other neighboring mountains like Mount Karisimbi, Mount Muhabura among others. You will also get a glance at the surroundings of Volcanoes National Park while at the summit of Mount bisoke not leaving out the crater lake. You will also see a number of different bird species while hiking to Mount Bisoke.
Once you get done with staring at the exciting sites at Mount bisoke, you will descend back to the starting point which takes approximately 2 hours to descend and then the guide will transfer you to a hotel for lunch. After your lunch meal, you will check out of the lodge and the guide will then transfer you to Kigali airport for your flight.
