While on a Rwanda safari, you will encounter the endangered mountain gorillas in the volcanoes and chimpanzees, as well as other primates in Nyungwe Forest National Park, and conclude with a visit to the Akagera National Park for a wildlife safari.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer To Volcanoes National Park
On arrival, the safari guide will meet you and brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will embark on the journey to Volcanoes National Park. You will have a city tour to the Kigali genocide memorial grounds and the Kimironko market with lunch en route.
After, you will proceed with the journey to Musanze, and on arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking
In the morning after breakfast, you will head to the park’s headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will enter the forest in search of the mountain gorillas. The trek takes 30 minutes to 7 hours, depending on the location of the mountain gorillas.
Once the Rwanda gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch them play, feed and breastfeed. You will take photos with them as well as record moments. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer To Nyungwe Forest
After morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park. The drive takes 5 to 6 hours via Kibuye with lunch en route. On arrival, you will check into the lodge for a refreshment, dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking And Canopy Walk
Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will head to the park’s headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will enter the forest in search of the chimpanzees, which takes 30 minutes to 4 hours. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an hour with them as they carry out their daily activities. After chimpanzee trekking, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
After lunch, you will head to the park for a Nyungwe canopy walk on a 2-metre suspended bridge, where you will view the forest from the top. It’s a great bird viewing point, and thus tourists are encouraged to carry their binoculars. After the walk, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer To Akagera National Park
After morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on a journey to Akagera National Park, which takes 6 to 7 hours. You will visit the Butare Museum and Nyanza King’s Palace with an en route lunch. On arrival, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Game Drive And Lake Ihema Boat Cruise
In the morning after breakfast, you will head into the national park for a morning game drive where you will spot wildlife species such as lions, elephants, giraffes, and rhinos, among others. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will go for a boat cruise at Lake Ihema, where you will spot various bird species, such as the hippos and crocodiles wallowing in the water. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 7: Transfer Back To Kigali
In the morning after a leisurely breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali. On arrival, you will be dropped off at the international airport for your flight back home or any place of convenience.
