This is a 5 days Volcanoes and Nyungwe Tour that will reward you with a primate viewing experience in Volcanoes National Park and Nyungwe National Park. This Rwanda safari will take you to Volcanoes National Park, which shelters mountain gorillas, and you will be able to meet the gorillas in their natural habitat. You will go ahead and engage in a hike to Dian Fossey Tomb, where you will see the place where the famous primatologist Dian Fossey was laid to rest alongside other mountain gorillas.
While still at Volcanoes National Park, you will have a hike to Mount Bisoke that will take you approximately 6 hours to ascend and descend. You will then visit Nyungwe National Park, where you will meet the chimpanzees and also participate in a canopy walk. You will visit places in Kigali city like the Kigali genocide memorial, the Rwanda art museum and Kimironko market.

Detailed Itinerary For The 5 Days Volcanoes And Nyungwe Tour
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali Airport and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On day 1 of the 5 days Volcanoes and Nyungwe tour, while at Kigali Airport, a guide from our company will meet you there, and you will discuss the safari. The guide will then transfer you from the Airport, and you will go for a visit to the Kigali genocide memorial. You will learn about the events of the 1994 Rwanda genocide. You will then be transferred to a hotel in Kigali for lunch.
You will then visit the Rwanda Art Museum for views of the art pieces and sculptures kept there. You will then start the drive to Volcanoes National Park, which will take about 2 hours. You will get to the park in the evening, check into a lodge, have dinner, and retire to bed.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and hike to Dian Fossey Tomb
On day 2 of the 5 days Volcanoes and Nyungwe tour, you will have breakfast, and then the guide will take you for a briefing about gorilla trekking. You will then proceed to the forest for a gorilla trek with an armed ranger guide. You will have about 30 minutes to 7 hours searching for the gorillas. You will spend 1 hour with the gorillas after spotting them. You will observe them in their habitat as they feed, play, and much more. The guide will drive you back to the lodge for lunch.
After relaxing, you will go for a hike to Dian Fossey’s Tomb. You will come across a number of birds and primates. You will be able to see the tomb of Dian Fossey and other graves of the mountain gorillas. You will then be returned to the lodge for dinner, and you will sleep.

Day 3: Hike to Mount Bisoke and transfer to Nyungwe National Park
On day 3 of the 5 days Volcanoes and Nyungwe Tour, you will have breakfast at the lodge, and then the guide will transfer you to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will then go for a hike to Mount Bisoke. The hike to Mount Bisoke takes about 6 hours, of which 4 hours are for ascending to the summit and the other 2 are for descending. You will have views of several birds and primates, plus the neighbouring volcanic mountains. You will then return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, the guide will transfer you to Nyungwe National Park. You will arrive at Nyungwe National Park, check into a lodge, have dinner and retire to bed.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and a canopy walk
On day 4 of the 5 days Volcanoes and Nyungwe tour, after having breakfast, a guide will take you for a briefing. After the briefing, you will proceed to the forest for a chimpanzee trek. The chimpanzee trek will offer you a lot of sightings, like those of other primates and bird species. You will spend one hour with the chimpanzees after spotting them. After observing how they behave, you will be returned to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, after relaxation, you will go for a canopy walk. The canopy walk will take about 2 hours. You will explore the park’s wildlife and landscapes while on the 160 m-long and 70 m-high suspended bridge. The guide will then return you to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Depart for Kigali Airport
On day 5 of the 5 days Volcanoes and Nyungwe tour, you will have breakfast, and then the guide will transfer you to Kigali. You will have a visit to the Kimironko market, where you will be able to buy souvenirs and also interact with the locals in the market. In this market, you will see a number of items sold there and some of them include clothes, fresh fruits, art pieces, bracelets, bangles, crafts, handbags and many more. The guide will then transfer you to Kigali Airport after having lunch at a hotel.
