Detailed itinerary for a 4 days safari to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda
Day 1 : Pick up from Kigali airport , visit to Kigali genocide memorial and transfer to volcanoes national park
On day 1, a guide will meet up with you at airport, you will interact and greet with him, brief you shortly and he will lead you to your next destination. You will first have a tour to the Kigali genocide memorial which was set as a place to remember the Rwandese that lost their lives during the genocide. This place has a lot of history to about the genocide and its remains which you will be able to witness as you reach there. This experience leaves you with a lot of memories about the Rwandese people.
After this visit, you will have lunch before you embark on your journey to Volcanoes National Park. You will get a lodge where you will stay and this will be according to your choice. That is either a midrange, budget or luxury lodge. Once you get it, you will check in, have supper and retire to bed.

Day 2 : Morning game drive and nature walk
On day 2, you will wake up as early as 5am to go for an early morning game drive. There are a lot of animals that you will be able to spot during this drive like the rhinos, buffaloes, elephants, monkeys among others. Some of the places in this park where this game drive can be conducted is in the virunga region.
After the morning game drives, you will go back to lodge, freshen up and rest till lunch time.
After lunch, you will then embark on a nature walk through the thick bamboo forest and this will take place by following the various routes with the help of a guide. You will be able to see numerous and rare tree species, animal species and the bird species while trekking on foot. This enables you to see these creatures at a close range.
After the nature walk, you will then retire to your lodge for supper, bathe and rest.
Day 3 : Gorilla trekking and evening game drive
On day 3, you will be briefed by a guide on how you are going to conduct your Rwanda gorilla trekking activity in the park. You will get time to have your breakfast before setting off for this activity. You will hike through forests while trying to spot these creatures. This activity can take a whole day depending on the location of these primates. You will spend an hour with these creatures after getting to them.
After this trek, you will have to return to the lodge for lunch and rest as you wait for the next activity.
In the evening you will go for an evening game drive with some briefing from the park guides that will avail you with the guidelines to follow while carrying out this activity. These guidelines help to avoid unnecessary mistakes that can lead to problems or harm you or the animals in the park. You will spot numerous animals while on this game drive and some of these animals include hippos, rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, elephants, golden monkeys and many more. This game drive starts at 5pm in the evening and it will take about 2 to 3 hours.
After this activity, you will trek back to your lodge, relax, have supper and retire to bed.
Day 4 : Depart to Kigali airport
On day 4, you will put your luggage together and check out of the lodge where you were staying. This will be done after the hotel has availed you breakfast at 8am. You will be taken by the guide back to Kigali Airport to catch your flight.
