Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali Airport to Volcanoes National Park
You will meet up with our company representative at Kigali Airport, and you will talk about the tour. After the interaction, you will set off to Volcanoes National Park. You will have a stopover at Musanze caves. You will take about 2 hours while exploring these caves, and you will have views of bats hanging in these caves. The guides will take you through the history of this place; that is to say, the Musanze caves were once a coronation ground for the Rwandese kings. These caves served as refugee camps after the 1994 Rwandan genocide. You will then leave the caves and head to Volcanoes National Park. You will check into a lodge upon arrival and have lunch.
After lunch, you will have a hike to Dian Fossey’s Tomb, where you will have numerous views of wildlife as you head to the tomb. You will arrive at the tomb, and with the help of the guides, you will be able to learn about the conservation efforts of Dian Fossey. You will also have views of other graves of mountain gorillas. You will then head back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and visit to Iby’iwacu cultural village
You will have breakfast, and you will be transferred to the park headquarters by the guide after breakfast at the lodge. You will go through the guidelines to follow while on a Rwanda gorilla trek with the guides, and then you will get a guide to escort you. You will be allocated a gorilla family to look for, and then you will set off. It will take about 30 minutes to 7 hours to spot the Rwanda gorillas, depending on their location. You will have only one hour with the gorillas after spotting them. You will observe them feed, play and much more. You will take pictures of them and afterwards head back to the lodge.
You will have lunch at the lodge. After lunch, you will leave the lodge and go for a visit to Iby’iwacu cultural village. You will meet the local guides at Iby’iwacu Cultural Village, and they will take you through the culture, traditions and history of the Rwandese. You will see how they prepare their local dishes and how they dance traditionally. You will then head back to the lodge. You will have dinner at the lodge, and you will retire to bed.

Day 3: Depart for Kigali Airport
You will have breakfast at your own pace in the morning while at the lodge. You will check out of the lodge after having breakfast. The guide will pick you up from the lodge and take you back to Kigali. You will visit Kimironko market before you head to Kigali Airport.
You will have views of items sold at this market, for example, clothes, jewellery, handbags, art pieces, fresh fruits, and others. You will buy souvenirs there and leave the market. You will go to a hotel for lunch and then head to Kigali International Airport.
